Every transition deserves someone who stays.
From uncertainty to independence - together.
LIFE 101 walks alongside young people leaving foster care as they build the relationships, skills, and opportunities to thrive in adulthood. Not as charity - as an investment in who they're becoming.
- Ages 12–21
- Trained, consistent mentors

Adulthood doesn't start on a birthday. It starts with someone showing up.
For a young person aging out of foster care, eighteen can arrive like a deadline instead of a milestone - the support that once surrounded them tapers off right as the stakes get highest. LIFE 101 exists to change that math.
“We don't treat this as a program to get through. We treat it as an investment in a future leader.”
Through consistent mentorship, practical life skills, and real career opportunity, we help young people build the confidence and the toolkit to walk into adulthood - not alone, and not behind, but ready.
Seven stages. One direction: forward.
This isn't a checklist of services. It's a path - and every stage is measured in growth, not assistance.
Each stage builds on the one before it - the same relationship, further down the road.
Six ways we invest in who they're becoming.
Every relationship starts with a match, not a form.
Mentors are trained, screened, and paired thoughtfully - then supported for the long haul, because consistency is the whole point.
Become a MentorWhat it actually feels like to show up.
Morning Mentorship
A check-in with a mentor - not a status update, a real conversation about the week ahead.
Interactive Workshop
Hands-on practice with a life skill - a budget built, a lease read line by line, a meal cooked from scratch.
Lunch & Real Talk
Peers around a table, unscripted conversation, and the quiet relief of not being the only one figuring it out.
Career Coaching
Resume feedback, a mock interview, or a direct introduction to someone hiring.
Group Activity
A team challenge or community project that turns leadership into something practiced, not just discussed.
Reflection Circle
A few honest minutes on what landed, what didn't, and what to carry into next week.
Community Dinner
Mentors, families, and staff at the same table - the belonging LIFE 101 is built around.
Future Planning
One concrete next step - a call to make, an application to finish, a goal written down.
Not a statistic. A moment you can picture.
Building the community that will carry you forward.
Landing a first job or internship that leads somewhere.
Working with a team to make impactful change in the community.
Earning a first college degree or trade certification.
Opening a first savings account or securing a first credit card.
Learning the practical skills that make life manageable and meaningful.
Adulthood doesn't begin at eighteen.
A birthday doesn't hand anyone the skills, relationships, or confidence to build a life. Those are built - and LIFE 101 believes they're built out of six things.
Guidance
Someone who has already walked the road, pointing out what's ahead.
Relationships
People who stay past the point where it would be easier to leave.
Skills
The practical, everyday competence that turns intention into independence.
Opportunity
Doors that actually open - internships, jobs, and introductions that lead somewhere.
Confidence
Proof, earned through practice, that you are capable of more than you thought.
Community
A place where showing up is expected - and belonging isn't conditional.
No young person should have to build an adult life with no one in their corner.LIFE 101
When one young person finds their footing, it doesn't stop with them.
A steady job becomes a stable home. A stable home becomes a family with room to plan further ahead than next week. A mentor who showed up becomes, one day, someone else's reason to show up too.
That's the ripple LIFE 101 is built for - stronger families, healthier communities, and a next generation that inherits hope instead of a gap. One relationship at a time.
Be the person they didn't have to find alone.
Every stage of this journey exists because someone chose to invest in it. Mentor a young person, fund a stage of the program, or simply share the story - the next chapter starts with you.
